• Originally from Polk City, IA, David attended North Polk High School and was a first team all conference, first team all district, first team INA all-state, first team IHSCBAA all state selection going 11-0 as a senior. He went on to pitch collegiately, setting school records in strike outs, innings pitched, fewest doubles, pickoffs and wins (tied) in helping DMACC to their first NJCAA World Series in nearly 30 years. David then went on to the Division 1 level (UNI) striking out 1.3 batters/inning and was a starter for Division 2 NCAA national tournament qualifier (UNO). 

  • David has spent time coaching and/or recruiting at both the high school and collegiate levels. With his background, Conrad has seen firsthand what it takes to succeed at each unique level of play and intimately understands points of view from both athlete striving to get noticed and the college coach attempting to find & sift through those athletes.


  • One of the most decorated receivers in Iowa State University history, Todd started all 45 games he played in for Iowa State and holds the school career receiving records with 176 passes caught for 3,096 yards and 31 touchdowns. After a standout career at ISU and 4 time All-Big 12 selectee, Blythe went on to the National Football League (NFL) signing as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints. He also went on to play for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Iowa Barnstormers. 

  • After his playing career, Todd went on to coach at Simpson College in his hometown of Indianola and spent the following three seasons as an assistant coach recruiting and coaching for the University of Northern Iowa. Todd's experience as not only a standout player as an amateur and professional but also coaching and recruiting at both Divisions 1 and 3 collegiately make him the ideal choice for Football Director at Next Step.

  • A native of Ames, IA. Robert has instructed high level golfers throughout the country. His clients have ranged from true beginner to Big 12 Champions and touring professionals. Coach Shahidi is a PGA Class A Professional. He graduated from Ames High School as a 4A State Golf Champion and went on to play at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. He has been a Head Golf Professional at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO and at The Golf Club at Fiddler's Creek in Naples, FL. 

  • Robert's experience gives him the unique perspective which Next Step is built on. He possesses a deep understanding of not only what is needed to take an athlete's game to the next level but also how to get there. Coach Shahidi is renowned for his ability to evaluate talent and his seemingly endless contacts throughout the golf industry.
